LAIYANG SERIES

2016

Equipment: Nikon D600

Just a few hours drive away from the village my father grew up in Rongcheng, Laiyang is the hometown of my uncle. My aunt and uncle raised me for two years in Beijing when I was in kindergarden age, so I feel especially connected to them. My uncle always told me fun stories of him as a kid in the village, and how he wanted to study hard in school so he could be in the city, because farming was not exactly the dream of many young people in that generation. His village is very remote in the mountains with most of the roads are unpaved. Here, me and my cousin had a great time exploring the childhood memories and places of my uncle’s generation.
